One of its kind and equipped with the following technology to provide state of the art care. With the Lab, the clinic not only intends to provide state of the art eye care but also provide the much needed clinical data about normal and abnormal ocular muscle functions and anomalies of binocular vision.
A. Force measurement forceps (Scott Caliper, USA) for the measurement of the eye muscle forces and restrictions.
B. Electromyography (EMG) Amplifier (USA) for the identification of lost muscle and drug injection (Botox/Bupivacaine) in the management of complex strabismus.
Useful for assessment of restrictive forces and the amount of force generated in paralysed or damaged muscles using a Scott caliper. Measures muscle forces in grams. It helps to plan transposition or muscle weakening surgeries better and provide a more predictable outcome.
Automated Hess charting is used to plot the field of binocular vision in the management of incomitant squint for patients with double vision.
This laboratory is equipped with State of the art Intellinetx two channel video nystagmography system (USA) for recording and analysis of complex eye movements viz. fast eye movements (Saccades), slow eye movements (pursuits), shaky eyes (nystagmus), optokinetic nystagmus, of complex strabismus and nystagmus, etc to plan appropriate treatment as well as for the objective documentation of the treatment outcome
In patients with acute onset small angle squint or Lateral rectus palsy or after muscle transposition surgery or consecutive squint, Botox injection can be helpful to correct the squint.
Measurement of distance stereopsis provides the best method to assess control of intermittent exotropia and measurement of near stereopsis provides best way to monitor accommodative esotropia..
This method is useful to assess the long term prognosis of eye alignment in patients after squint surgery.
